MUD ROTARY DRILLING

Sides started drilling water bores 83 years ago. Over the years the company has completed hundreds of waterbores for farmers through to major town supplies in Australia, Indonesia and the Pacific Islands. The company has a number of Class 3 Water well drillers and has a range of rigs capable of drilling wells down to a depth of 2000 metres. The company has the capability of delivering clients with a turn key solution, from concept to construction through to management and abandonment.

Sides have drilled many Oil and Gas, Coal Bed Methane and Geothermal wells in the last five years. Sides drilled the original wells for Woodside Energy back in the late 1930's so has a long history in the industry.

Construction of a 1300m deep waterbore R76 – Rotomec 2x Ideco double acting triplex pumps
Portland: Construction of a 1300m deep waterbore Petratherm: 600m Pre collars through Great Artesian in the Frome Basin, South Australia for Geothermal Mud System consisting of 2x Ideco double acting triplex pumps, mud mixing tanks, desilter/desanders & cyclones

The current fleet of rigs can each be used for different projects.

The Speedstar is used for drilling waterbores, conductors and coal bed methane to 600 meters
The Bourne drills conductors and stratigraphic oil and gas wells to 1000 metres
The GD2500 is rated to 2000 metres for drilling, workover and abandonment
Support gear including large pumps, blow out preventers and mud systems

Sides has successfully completed some of the deepest waterbores in Victoria. Namely two at Port Fairy, which involved the installation of fibreglass reinforced plastic casing to a depth of 900 metres, at the time an industry first. Sides have constructed two waterbores at Portland for Wannon Water. Each will replace the existing town supply bores and constructed to a depth of 1300 metres.
